Year: 2016. Posted 21 October, 2014. Been told that skoda's built before August 2010 are every 4 years for timing belts. Skoda's built from September 2010 are every 5 year's. So my car was ordered at the height of the VAT Free offer in July 2010 and delivered at the end of September 2010.
Have just been advised by dealer that belt should be replaced at 4 years. As others have found the handbook is confusing, makes no ref to 4 years. phoned Skoda UK. they said that Skoda UK recommend 80,000miles or 4 years whichever is soonest. ( They 4 years only introduced 2 years ago).
Expert answer Hi Michael, You've not mentioned whether you have the Superb or the Octavia, but either way our data suggests that the recommended service interval for the 1.6 TDI timing belt is 140,000 miles (225,000 kilometres) or every four years.
There was alot of discussion on here a few years back as Skoda dealers were advising 40.000miles/ 4 years for the AUQ when VW were stating 60.00miles/5years for the same engine. When I questioned my local Skoda dealer about this at the time they claimed that due to water pump impellor failure they were advising a reduced interval.

However, the bloke said "I really should have changed the
Oct 2, 2017. #1. I changed my first CKRA timing belt (probably my 5-6 TDI belt) this past Saturday. A few suggestions I found and/or recommend: 1) no need to remove the motor mount and jack up the motor. Instead remove the TB tensioner stud from the block to change the tensioner. 2) a good set (or two) of 12 point drivers is helpful.

Waste of time. The 4 year rule is a VAG UK generated scam. All of the printed documentation supplied with the vehicle gives a 60 or 80k mile change interval with no time limitation - nowhere else other than in the UK is a 4 year change recommended. I changed all of the belts, cambelt idlers and water pump on my AWX Superb after 5 years and all
